Which features need to be activated on the Definity to use the full spectrum of Active Telephony functionality? For example: Is "ASAI Link Core Capabilities" and/or "ASAI Link Plus Capabilities" needed to be able to route calls with Active Telephony?

Question

Which features need to be activated on the Definity to use the full spectrum of Active Telephony functionality? For example: Is "ASAI Link Core Capabilities" and/or "ASAI Link Plus Capabilities" needed to be able to route calls with Active Telephony?

Response

CCE requires Adjunct Links. Ensure CTI-Links created for use with CCE are of the type ADJLK or ADJ-IP.

Avaya developed two links for Definity. Adjunct Link and ASAI.
Adjunct Link is non-documented, proprietary link for connecting Avaya products i.e. Avaya CT, which is what Active Telephony has been developed for.
ASAI was documented and available for third party development directly with Definity such as Genesys etc. The functionality of the ASAI link was divided into different levels, Core and Plus.

When purchasing Avaya CT (required for Active Telephony and Contact Center Express) it is purchased with one of two possible license types. Class A or Class B. For Contact Center Express, Class B licensing is required as this provides Adjunct Links, CTI Stations and Phantom calling. When setting up the MAPD DLG or Co-resident DLG CTI-Link it is possible to set the Definity port to ADJLK or ASAI depending on the RTU's purchased. Ensure CTI-Links created for use with CCE are of the type ADJLK.

Please refer to Avaya documentation for Definity/Multivantage for further information.

Applicable to

Contact Center Express 2.0 and above

It did not provide the specific Definity Release that this was required on. Since R10 was introduced some of the required licensing have changed, and now it also differs depending on whether you are runnign Legacy Definity systems, S8700, S8300 or S8100. + of-course the Release of the Definity sw.

I also put a note on a couple of days ago. Our customer could not add an Adjunct Route Vector step. He was using MultiVantage R1.3 sw with Co-Res DLG and also had a License for Computer Telephony Adjunct Links. But, still he could not add the Adjunct Route to a Vector step. The Error the Definity threw back was "You need CT Adjunct Links OR ASAI Plus features turned on". This was not clear and was not the cause. The Feature "Vectoring (Basic)" was preventing them from adding Adjunct Routing. There is currently an MR to get this message changed on the Definity to provide a more clear description of the cause of the problem. Riaan Blom, Avaya Tier 3 UK. rblom@avaya.com
